FENSA - What It Means To You
|
- From 2002 the replacement of windows and doors must conform to the Building Regulations
i.e. higher thermal efficiency ratings (Low U Values), egress in case of fire etc.
- You are not permitted to fit windows and doors that do not comply stricly with the
above Regulations. It is an offence to fit products that do not comply fully (You
are committing the offence!!)
- Compliance can be acheived by two routes:-
- Employ a non FENSA registered company. then pay up to £100.00 to your
local Authority Building Control for them to approve the installation and to register
it (It must be registered)
If the installation is not compliant you will have committed an offence under the
Building Act 1984 and you will have to rectify the work done.
If the installation is not registered you will have problems when you sell your
home from the purchaser's solicitor. Your property price can be affected! - Use a FENSA registered company. We will, in conjunction with FENSA
arrange to electronically register your installation with your Local Authority and
a certificate will be sent to you stating full compliance with the Building Regulations.
- As a FENSA registered business we are required to offer all customers the opportunity
to purchase an insurance backed guarantee to ensure your peace of mind.
